Jack’s research team has come up with a novel approach to modeling requirements and mapping them to design. He talks to his clients about this new approach and they decide to use it to gather requirements. To gather some of the requirements, Jack, and his team members also conduct a brainstorming session with stakeholders that include the clients, his team members, and some end-users. Jack also does face-to-face interviews with the interested parties. The sessions are audio-recorded with their permission. He believes that he has followed all procedures and the project is going well – on time and budget. Jack and his team members are included on the ethics application due to the sensitive nature of the project (which extends to the data collected as part of the requirements gathering phase). Six months into the project, a version of the system is developed and is ready for testing. But, during the entire time, Jack sensed hostility among some of the client’s team members. At various times, they were rude, aggressive, or strongly disapproved of ideas suggested by him and his team members.
